The design draws from this core, finding the space in an intentional expression of opportunities to come and multiplicity of voices in a constant state of becoming through geometric shapes that build new combinations and a logo equipped for expansiveness.

Brand Identity for Retrograde by Perky Bros
Retrograde is cozy coffee stop nestled into Nashville’s east side that’s dedicated to providing the neighborhood with a welcoming spot to slow down and press pause for a moment on the daily path.
Taking cues from the name, the visual identity is inspired by the cosmic phenomenon of retrograde motion. Specifically, the moment when Mercury appears to hover and begin to move backwards. The reverse italic logotype features three custom Sputnik “Rs”, with geometric counters referencing Mercury, Earth and the Sun. The brand symbol pulls them together in a simple interstellar monogram, and the calming color palette is complemented with a touch of bright gold fit for a NASA satellite.

Perky Bros exists to help brands gain clarity, value and distinction through design. They create visual identities, websites, packaging, print materials and any odd or end necessary to create an authentic experience.
Working with startups to more established brands, they like to keep their approach flexible. Regardless of what they’re tackling, they strive to offer solutions built on plain-spoken, ambitious ideas—always grounded in research and meticulously crafted in their execution.

Brand Identity for Elly’s by Futura
Elly’s is a high-end restaurant located in Mexico City. For their brand’s identity, we wanted to create a contrast between reinterpreted 1930’s typographies and handwritten details in a playful way. The result is child-like, quirky, and edgy all at once.
In order to balance out the playfulness with elegance in the brand, we used a serif typeface with contemporary details for the editorial, counterbalanced with a play of longhand elements, reminiscent of the playfulness of the graphic.
We also created illustrations based on Elly’s childhood by abstracting those memories into fun and dynamic images. Elly’s, a taste of nostalgia.

Malika Favre by Counter-Print Books
Malika Favre is one of the world’s most celebrated illustrators, known for her stunningly simple work, often utilizing a handful of perfectly refined vector shapes to convey her subject matter.
Whether working as a commercial illustrator in advertising, editorial or publishing, or as an artist creating personal pieces, Malika’s artwork is imbued with both an iconic sense of style and underlying meaning.
Her images often tweak the intellect, sometimes through the minimal forms she creates and the way they flow into one another; while in others, she conjures up optical illusions with repeating lines and patterns.
This revealing monograph tells the story of an authentic artist, one who’s stunning output showcases a unique talent attuned to spotting and appreciating the beauty in the simplest things.T D B: instagram • twitter • facebook • newsletter • pinterest
